HOW TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES IN LIFE

HOW TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES IN LIFE

In life, whatever situation it might be; at work or at home, there will always be obstacles that stand in our way. If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere. – Frank A. Clark

It’s probably safe to say that every goal we set comes with a stack of obstacles. If we are able to analyze how to thrive through these barriers, that’s when an improbable goal becomes a deep-rooted part of our reality.

Each obstacle presents you with a different set of challenges. Push through these challenges, and you will smoothen into your goal. You need the gut to face these challenges or your goal will always remain out of reach.

However, when faced with challenges in your life, here are some tips I’ve learned to overcome obstacles:

Get rid of the giving up attitude

If a task, the project, is not working, find out the reason and aim at doing what you can to change the outcome. But NEVER EVER EVER EVER quit. You’re the master captain of your life, decide how you want to chart your course. Never abandon your ship. You’re a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.

Acceptance

It is vital to accept that difficulties in life cannot be avoided. But it’s worth noting that acceptance results in understanding and often brings new opportunities. We simply had to accept this or risk massive life-threatening health complications.

Self Doubt

Are you aware of your strengths? Self-doubt is the doubt of your personal abilities. You may be well skilled in something but since you haven’t acknowledged your abilities, you don’t think they amount to much. One of the causes of self-doubt is low self-esteem. Low self-esteem causes you to have low self-confidence thus preventing you from going for what you want to achieve.

Discard Negative Thoughts

Negativity limits your potential to become something great and live a fulfilling, purposeful life. Negative energy can be difficult to let go of. Society tells us we need more and more and rarely offers time to simply take a step back and enjoy what’s in front of us. However, once you learn to do this, you make space for positivity to enter your life.

Emotional side

When dealing with others, we sometimes forget that there is more than just the logical side. Most people make decisions because of emotions whether they believe it or not. Past experiences or fears can play a part. Sometimes in order to remove the obstacle, you have to digger deeper into the real reasons for objections and overcome that issue first.

Evaluate the Obstacle

Can something be done to overcome the obstacle now or does it require expert help? Consider it objectively as though you were seeing it for the first time. Use logic and sound judgment to avoid becoming emotionally enslaved to the task.

Mistakes happen

Problem-solving and making mistakes often go hand-in-hand. Sometimes in order to find the best solution to a given problem, we have to go through a hundred bad solutions first. Thomas Edison was a master of this process. For every invention he developed, he made a thousand tries at things that did not work. The most important thing here is to remember that mistakes are okay. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t get frustrated. Use the mistakes as stepping stones to get to the desired solution. If you have gone through a hundred options to no avail, you have found a hundred ways not to do something rather than one hundred failures.

Think about how overcoming obstacles in life can be an opportunity to make an impact on people, causes, or issues much bigger than yourself. You won’t feel so alone. You’ll realize how small we actually are compared to the length of time or the number of people or issues we all face.

If an obstacle can't be overcome, and you can't find an alternative to your goal, then celebrate that you put the effort in and did your best. Use your flexible, wise mind and think of another goal that you want to pursue.
