7 PRACTICAL TIPS : HOW TO BUILD A POSITIVE MINDSET
If you want to create a more positive mindset, an important thing to know is that it usually doesn’t happen overnight. However, when you’re consistent and create more and more self-awareness, you will catch yourself thinking negative thoughts and can then change them.
Optimism does involve focusing on the positives where possible but notably, it’s also grounded in reality so if problems do exist, if adversity is present, optimists don’t pretend everything’s fantastic but rather, they face up to the cold, hard realities and then look for solutions!
It doesn’t matter if it’s at home or in the workplace, negativity is toxic, When your thoughts are perpetually negative, it shows. A bad attitude hurts everyone, not just you. Human beings are very perceptive, and no one wants to feel tension especially when it’s coming from someone else!
Remind yourself to think positively every day
With hard work, determination, and strength, nothing is impossible. Negative thinking is common, but too often it is harmful to the body, mind, and soul. Each time you have a negative thought, redirect it to a positive channel. Find the positive in the negative. It is going to be difficult, but it becomes easier with practice. In the long run, you will be relaxed more often and enjoy life a whole lot more.
Believe that you can change your thoughts
Sometimes, the belief is all that matters. As they say, you can do anything you put your mind to. If you think you can’t change your thinking, then it’s likely that you won’t. However, with a positive mindset, just about anything is possible. Just believe that good things will happen, and things tend to fall into place.
Focusing on your strengths
Like your talents and skills, is very important in switching from a negative mindset to a positive one.
Take Responsibility
To get rid of a negative mindset, one must learn how to take ownership in times of difficulties.
The go-to person in a business is the one who knows when to take responsibility when needed. If you are the type of entrepreneur who takes ownership, then people will look up to you.
Celebrate your wins
When you operate from a negative mindset, you focus only on what’s not working and forget to notice everything that is already wonderful in your life. For that reason, make it a daily and weekly ritual to celebrate your wins. Some days you’ll have big wins, which is excellent, but most days the wins will be small. Maybe it’s checking something off your to-do list that you’ve been procrastinating on or the fact that you treated yourself to a well-deserved at-home spa day. No win is too small. The more you consciously focus on the wins, the less and less you’ll veer off into negative mindset land.
Learn a new skill
Learning something new feels good. It’s not just an illusion; learning new skills actually creates new neural pathways in your brain, and teaches you that change is possible. This is great when it comes to creating a growth mindset! Choose something you’re interested in, or you've always wanted to try. It doesn’t matter what it is; just get out there, try a class or start practicing on your own.
Reconnect with a friend.
We all have those people in our lives who we love but never seem to find the time to chat with. Call up a friend, or even an acquaintance for who you have warm feelings, and arrange a coffee date. As humans, we’re wired to thrive on social connection, and caring for our friendships inspires hope and positivity in our minds.
Positive thinking isn't just a soft and fluffy feel-good term. Yes, it's great to simply “be happy,” but those moments of happiness are also critical for opening your mind to explore and build the skills that become so valuable in other areas of your life.
To put it simply seek joy, play often, and pursue adventure. Your brain will do the rest.
